Students often look at their peers for acceptance and how they view them. This character building lesson provides students with the opportunity to see how their peers see them. Each student takes a turn sitting or standing in front of a whiteboard facing their peers, while other students take turns writing positive words that reflect the student standing in front of the white board. Students aren't allowed to turn around until their peers are done. This not only builds up self-esteem but trust in each other.
Once every student has a turn, they get to choose different books about self-esteem. This is where they gathered as groups of 4 and discussed the book they chose and what they've learned. At the end of the lesson we re-group and create a chart on "Boosting Self-Esteem". |
